Using Onzo
Is Onzo free?
Yes. Joining and hosting are free. Some activities have a cost per person, for a court or a venue. Onzo doesn’t take payments: you pay on the day, to whoever booked.
Where is Onzo available?
In Singapore, and in Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur (with the Klang Valley), Penang and Johor Bahru. Pick yours from the line at the top of Discover (or Me → Area & distance), or tap Use my location. On a trip, switch to that city, and back when you’re home.
Why can’t I see the exact meeting place?
The host chose to show the exact spot only to people going. Join the activity (or wait until your request is approved) and the meeting point, directions and group chat open.
Can I bring a friend?
Ask your friend to join on Onzo too. Each person joins on their own account, so the host knows how many are coming and everyone can see the group chat.
Who can see my information?
People at your activities see your first name, photo and interests, and the few words you wrote about yourself. Your email, phone number, postcode and exact location are never shown. Your show-up record is only for you.
Joining
How do I open a private activity?
Open the link or scan the QR code you were given, then type the passcode the host told you. Don’t have it? Ask the host: Onzo never shows the passcode to anyone but the host and co-hosts.
My request to join expired. Why?
The host didn’t answer before the date ended. Try another date, or another activity like it.
Why can’t I join this activity?
It may be full (look for a waiting list), for women only or men only, already over, or hosted by someone you’ve blocked or who has blocked you.
What happens if I drop out late?
Dropping out less than 24 hours before the start counts as a late cancellation. The host is told and the spot opens for someone else. Drop out as early as you can.
A link says “This isn’t available anymore”.
The activity may have been cancelled or removed, or the link is wrong. Tap Find other activities to see what else is on.
Hosting
I can’t create another activity.
There’s a limit on how many activities you can have going and create each month. Me shows how many you can still create. When one ends or is cancelled, or a month after you created one, you can create another.
How do I change the time or place?
Open the activity, tap Manage, then Time or Place. Everyone going is notified. See Manage your activity.
Can I cancel after it has started?
Yes, within 60 minutes of the start and only if nobody has checked in. After that it can’t be cancelled: it ends by itself at its end time.
Problems
I’m not getting notifications.
Check Me → Privacy & notifications, and that notifications for Onzo are allowed in your phone’s settings. To save battery, some Android phones stop notifications for apps you haven’t opened for a while: open Onzo, and allow it to run in the background.
Onzo says my location is off.
Allow location for Onzo in your phone’s settings, or pick your area from the list instead. Onzo only uses your location to show what’s near you.
Onzo asks me to update.
Your version is too old to keep working. Tap Update now to get the latest from the App Store or Google Play.
Onzo says it’s under maintenance.
We’re working on something and will be back shortly. The screen checks again by itself.
How do I contact Onzo?
In the app: Me → Send feedback. We read every message.
