Join an activity
Open an activity to see what it is, when and where, who’s going, and what it costs. Then join with one tap, or ask the host.
Join straight away
- Open the activity from Discover, a link or a notification.
- If it repeats, pick the date you want. Each date is joined on its own: there’s no membership.
- Tap Join. You’ll see You’re on.
Once you’re in, the exact meeting point, directions and the group chat open, and you can Add to calendar from the ⋯ menu. When you arrive, the host may scan your QR code to check you in: open Me → My QR code.
Ask to join
Some hosts approve who comes. Their activities show Request to join.
- Tap Request to join.
- Add a short hello if you like, for example “New to the area, keen for a chill game”.
- Tap Send request.
The host sees your first name, your interests and your hello. You’ll get a notification when they answer. A request that isn’t answered closes when the date ends. To withdraw it, tap Request sent · withdraw.
Choosing a package
Some activities have sessions and packages: each package is a set of sessions at a price. When you join, ask to join or join the waiting list, Choose a package. Your package shows on the activity; while you’re going, tap Change package to pick another. Prices are what the host asks; Onzo doesn’t take payments.
When it’s full: the waiting list
If the host allows a waiting list, a full activity shows Join the waiting list.
- Tap Join the waiting list. You’ll see your place, for example “You’re #2 on the waiting list”.
- When a spot opens, the first person in line gets a notification. The spot is theirs for up to 120 minutes (less when the start is close): tap Claim the spot, or Let it go to pass it to the next person.
- You can Leave the waiting list any time.
When the host approves who comes, a full activity shows Ask to join (waiting list) instead, and the host approves you when a spot opens.
Private activities
A private activity isn’t in Discover. You open it from the link or QR code someone gave you, and Onzo asks for its passcode.
- Open the link, or scan the QR code with your phone camera.
- Type the passcode the host gave you and tap Open.
From then on you can see that activity, every date of it, and join as usual. If you were invited by the host, you don’t need the passcode.
Reading it in your language
If the activity is written in another language, tap Translate to English (your app’s language) under its description, or Translate in the ⋯ menu. The title the host wrote, the description and the sessions change to the language your app is in (Settings → Language). It’s a machine translation by Claude, so it can be imperfect: names, places, prices and times stay as the host wrote them. Tap Show original to go back. Only the activity’s text is sent to be translated, never who you are.
Women-only and men-only activities
A host can make an activity for women only or men only. You’ll see it on the activity (it’s the host’s wish — Onzo doesn’t check), and Onzo asks you to confirm before you join; usually the host approves who joins.
Online activities
Online activities happen on a video call (Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, Tencent Meeting or another link). The meeting link appears once you’ve joined. See Online activities.
Can’t go any more?
- Open the activity and tap Can’t go.
- Confirm with Drop out.
The host is told, and your spot opens for someone else. If it’s less than 24 hours before the start, it counts as a late cancellation in your record.
Invites
People you’ve met can invite you to their activities. Invites appear at the top of Plans and in your notifications. Open the activity and tap Join to accept, or No thanks to decline. The person isn’t told that you declined.
