Host an activity
Hosting takes about 30 seconds: say what, when and where, and publish. Everything else is optional.
Create it
- Tap + at the bottom of the screen.
- What: pick an activity. Your interests come first; tap More for every category or to search. Not on the list? Choose Other… and type it, for example “Pottery”.
- When: choose Today, Tomorrow or Other… for another date (up to 180 days ahead), then the time. Set how long it lasts, or an end time. For a camp or a retreat, tap Several days: choose a number of whole days (it ends at the time it starts), or pick the day and time it ends (up to 7 days after the start). A repeating activity has to end before its next date. Repeat is right under it (see below).
- Where: choose In person or Online. For in person, tap Pick a place, search for a place or an area, then drag the map so the pin is on the meeting spot and tap Use this spot. You can also name a Custom place.
- Tap Publish.
Keep the exact place private
With Hide exact spot until people join on, Discover shows only the area. People see the exact meeting point once they’ve joined. This is a good idea for meeting at someone’s place or a quiet spot.
Private activities
Under More options → Who can come → Who can find it, choose Private to keep an activity out of Discover, search and the map. Type a passcode (4–12 letters or numbers), then give it to the people you want there yourself: in person, by phone or in a private message.
- Share the activity’s link or QR code as usual.
- Tell people the passcode separately. Onzo never puts it on the link, the QR code or the share card.
- When someone opens the activity, they enter the passcode once; after that they can see it and join, like any other.
People you invite, co-hosts and people already going don’t need the passcode. You and your co-hosts see it on the activity (tap it to copy). To change it, or make the activity public, open Manage → Who can come.
Add a title, photos and a description
Title (optional) is right above it: leave it empty and Onzo uses the activity and area. Then tap the About this activity card:
- Photos: up to 3. The first is the cover; tap a photo to make it the cover, replace it or remove it.
- Description: what you’ll do and what to bring. Under Suggestions for you, Yours has descriptions you wrote before for this activity and Templates has ready-made texts. Tap Use and edit it.
Right under the card, two rows: tap Add on either.
- Photos from past activities: up to 5 photos from earlier times, so people can see what it’s like. They show after the description.
- Event link: its page elsewhere — the event’s own site, a third party’s page or an organization’s sign-up form. People see where it goes and open it inside the app.
Later, change them (and the title) in Manage → About.
More options
Tap More options. Everything there has a default, in four groups:
People & cost
- People incl. you: how many can come (2 to 50).
- Waiting list when full: off unless you turn it on; then people line up for spots that open, and you set how many places the list has.
- Cost per person: free, a fixed amount, or a range. In some countries a paid activity asks at least a set amount; the screen says when. Onzo doesn’t take payments: people pay on the day, to whoever booked.
Who can come
- Who can find it: Public (on Discover) or Private (with a passcode, see above).
- Who can join: anyone, or only your community’s members, when your plan has Members (see Communities).
- Open to: anyone, women only or men only. Onzo doesn’t check who’s a woman or a man, so choosing one turns on I approve for you: you see who asks before they’re in (you can turn it off).
- How people join: Join straight away, or I approve each request.
Level and the activity’s other choices (for badminton, Level and Format), when it has them: optional, so people can find others at the same level.
Co-hosts (see Co-hosts).
Closed, the line under More options shows the size and what you’ve changed.
Sessions and packages
On a paid plan, one activity can have several sessions over one or more days: a workshop’s morning and afternoon, or a course on three Saturdays. Open Manage → Sessions & packages.
- Tap Add a session: a title, a description if you like, the day, start and end, and a price if you like. Then tap Save.
- Add packages if you like: sets of sessions at a price, for example “Saturday only” or Every session (the total package; new sessions join it). With packages, people choose one when they join.
- Choose what These sessions are…: One continuous activity (the same people throughout: one group chat, one check-in) or Separate sessions (people choose sessions with packages: each session has its own chat and check-in beside the main chat). Packages are for separate sessions. It stays one sign-up either way: one list of people and one waiting list. Its start and end follow the sessions.
A session or package that someone going chose can’t be removed, and that package’s price and sessions stay as they were; add a new one instead. Repeating and private activities can’t have sessions.
Repeating activities
Under Repeat, choose Every day, every week on the same day, every 2nd week, or every 3 or 4 weeks. Then choose How many times (up to 52) or Until I stop it.
Each date is its own activity: people join one date at a time, with no membership to manage. Dates are created 8 weeks ahead and keep coming while the series runs.
Invite people and share
You can invite people you’ve met while creating it (Publish & invite), or after publishing:
- Fill it faster: invite your connections and people you’ve met. Invites go out first; open spots stay visible in Discover.
- Share link or QR code: anyone who opens the link can see the activity and join. People without Onzo get a page to download it.
- Open the group chat to say hello.
Do it again
In Plans → Past, tap Do it again on something you hosted. Everything is filled in from last time; change what you like and publish.
How many can I host?
Me shows how many activities you have going and how many more you Can still create. When you reach the limit, one ending or being cancelled (or a month passing since you created one) frees a place.
The limits come from your plan: Free host is free; a Trial lasts a set number of days; Plus, Pro and Premium go month by month; nonprofits and public bodies get Community, free, with the same tools as a business. Settings → Your plans shows yours and when a trial or month ends.
